I'm trying to remember the capscrew size of the Jt head, but I think they go to about 12 ft lbs (16 Nm) and the cylinder base nuts to about 18 (25 Nm) ft lbs. If you are useing the standard Rover/MG head gasket then yes the torque setting are 15 ft,Lb and then 2 stages of 180 degrees. But if you are using the new Multi layered steel head gasket then it is 15 ft,lb and then 4 stages of 90 degrees. personaly i recomend the latter torque setting for all Rover/MG head gaskets to ensure even pressure over the entire head. All head nuts should be set to either 42lb ft or 50lb ft. You should not have two different torques on the 9 head studs/nuts as you will be asking for trouble.
